On 26th February, a Charity Luncheon was held at Raunds in support of Northants Guide Dogs for the Blind - this event came about for two reasons:
  • Firstly as a way of supporting an absolutely amazing charity which does so much to help people who cannot see to live independent and successful lives with the help of man's best friend, a dog.
  • Secondly, to support the Mayor of Northampton, Councillor Chris Malpas, in his work for his chosen charity for his year of office, the Northants Guide Dogs for the Blind and in this, our Tercentenary year (Masonry reaching out into the community). Cllr Malpas is himself blind and relies on a wonderful guide dog, Verity, to get him through his very successful and busy daily life.
The event received the support of our Provincial Grand Master RWBr G E Bonham and was attended by many other local Masons and their families and friends. It raised a total of £1212.70 for the charity.
Some superb light musical entertainment was provided on the day by WBr John Pilbeam (Ailwyn Lodge of MMM).

The event was attended by the Mayor & Lady Mayoress of Northampton (Cllr and Mrs Lynne Malpas) and a number of guide dogs and their owners were in attendance. The Mayor gave a talk to the attendees in which he explained just how important a guide dog is to someone who is blind and how he himself lost much of his his self-confidence when he lost his sight a few years ago but which he has since regained with Verity's help.

Below are some photographs taken on the day - and a Letter of thanks from the Mayor of Northampton
